Abstract
In order to evaluate the effects and safety of fenoprofen calcium, a comparative, randomized study of fenoprofen calcium and codein compound was undertaken in 40 patients with postpartum and postoperative cases of obstetrics and gynecology.
Fenoprofen calcium 400mg or codein compound(codein 30mg, aspirin 500mg, phenobarbital 10mg) was given randomly whenever the patient complained of pain. Analgesic effects on the patient who took more than 3 oral doses of fenoprofen calcium or codein compound were evaluated by interviews.
The result showed that there was no statistical significant difference in the effects of drugs to pain control between fenoprofen calcium and codein compound but administration of codein compound resulted in more adverse side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nausea and abdominal discomfort than fenoprofen calcium.
In conclusion, the fenoprofen calcium is the effective analgesics for the relief of postpartum and postoperative pains and is the more safe drug than codein compound.
